TLC in the Classroom

p7010072During the summer term Governors at Woodthorpe Infants gave a questionnaire to the children asking what they liked about school, what helped them learn and what staff could do to improve school.

The children came up with many amazing ideas including the building of a museum under the school and a swimming pool! One child suggested that it would be nice if there was a special teddy in the class that they could cuddle when they were sad or upset.

Staff were asked their thoughts and although the sound of a swimming pool appealed, was unrealistic. However everyone agreed that teddies would be a good idea.

Already being familiar with TLC and how the bears are used I immediately thought of the charity and the possible donation of some bears. My husband contacted Graham Riche the organiser who very generously donated 8 bears to school.

The school councillors (pictured) delivered an assembly to the children about the TLC charity and how the bears are to be used in school. The bears have already been used as an instant distraction for distressed children and have a lovely calming effect.

To thank the generosity of Graham and TLC the school will hold a retiring collection at the end of our Christmas performances, with donations being sent to TLC.
